Founder and your Co-Founders.
If you’re working with a cofounder, or a group of cofounders, it is imperative that you discuss and agree in writing all matters relating to money in order to create a mutual, symbiotic dynamic built on strong communication, empathy, the division of responsibilities, and honesty. Early agreement on money, when there is no money is the best time to talk about. We highly recommend you and your team have some kind of legal operating agreement so that there are no founder issues later when, inevitably, there is some disagreement down the line. Especially when a lot of money is on the table. Start-up founders who fail to cement a strong foundation and agreement in the earliest stages of their ideas often end up with high conflict and failure.
Your Testimony is Your Story
Your story begins with a purpose. Why did you start your company? What drove that decision and what problem did you set out to solve? What motivates you to succeed when the odds appear insurmountable? You need to make sure your passion shines through and investors get to see the real you.
Public Speaking
This brings us to the important matter of public speaking, which will be an essential skill for you to master as founder.
In your entrepreneurial journey, you will encounter people from all walks of life that could potentially become future investors, business partners, colleagues, customers, and more. How you present yourself makes all the difference — with the potential to turn a one-time encounter into a more meaningful and fruitful relationship.
